Gordon Murray reveals the secrets to his new 663bhp T50 supercar. Better than the McLaren F1?
Bílar og ökutæki
Gordon Murray takes me round the GMA T.50 and explains why he decided to launch this new supercar now, which he sees as the rightful successor to the mighty McLaren F1. With a bespoke 3.9litre Cosworth V12 that pumps out 663bhp at an incredible 11,500rpm and weighing only 986kg at the kerb, performance is going to be astonishing. Yet there's enough luggage space to make this a usable GT. The T.50 looks to be a truly amazing new supercar..

His personality doesn’t fair with the Car
What shoes is Harry wearing here?
The concentration of specialist engineering firms and individuals in the UK is just crazy. Explains why so many of the F1 teams are based there.
The amount of times Mr Murray say "I" is close to the engine's RPM limit.
This is a practical car. Amazing engineering and being a Hypercar it will destroy the opposition. The T50 doesn't look outlandish and will look good in my car collection after I buy one. Take care, David Matherson
Marvelous work of art. Iconic
i could listen to Gordon Murray all day long
No need for viagra before “bed” now. Just stick this video on. ❤️
what an ugly arse you gave this car ... you killed an amazing opportunity Gordon.
Looks kind of like a revamped Jaguar XJ220. Very sharp

Why it has R20 wheels the rear, and not a R19 size?

@Gaz Boro No, I am talking about rim size, original F1 had r17 wheels (F & R) Why T50 can't use 295/35/r19? (At the rear*) Why Gordon opted for 295/30/r20 size? Both has almost the same outside diametrs

Handling ... look at f1 cars , rear big, wide .. fronts smaller
The Headlights look like creepy transformer faces.
Cosworth did the engine - you can't get better. Gordon designed the chassis down to materials, size and welds. Like Chapman it's going to be light and strong - enough. Will it hold up or break in half? When the handle on your paper sack rips because of too much produce you understand the double bagging. Gordon doesn't double bag - neither did Colin - watch the produce.
Amazing tech....!
This is junk to
Lightweight. Who puts a cd changer in a race car F1 junk
Piece of junk. Car sucks
Will you have an option for a gear stick on the left?
Imagine if he built an EV supercar.

Harry and Gordon, two amazingly humble, and brilliantly minded enthusiasts in one place! Gordon is such a regular, no nonsense, but fun chasing "man's man", that I feel like it extends that affectation to his car as well. I want to believe every word he says because the compassion for his creation is so genuine. I'm very happy there's a follow up to the F1, I'll surely never see, or drive one, but knowing such a car is out there, and a man like Gordon persists as an asset to the now, and the future of our dream cars, gives me hope, and a smile. GG sir! And thank you Harry, for asking all the right questions, once again, brilliantly attacking a subject with calm, and sincerity, while his smile gives away the internal childlike amazement so well restrained, my knees would be shaking as if I were playing the solo to Comfortably Numb with David Gilmour watching. Coolness in action.
still not 'Sir' Gordon Murray ?
I´m Swedish. You know my favorite ;-)
Mr Murray i am in LOVE... so you were the one who put the fan in back of the F1 :) coool
Absolutely love Gordon Murray! He is a brilliant designer and builder

Will possibly be the greatest driver's car of all time. Just wish he'd do a driver's car that drivers could afford.
There must be some animosity between him an McLaren, based on his tone, tell me about your car not the shortcomings of the f1, just saying. Amazing engineering in the 50, and ultimate driver's car, if the 100 get made, hope they do, he seems to have thought this out, probably 6 mil. Worth it for the 12,000 rpm
Does anyone else use this video to go to sleep? Gordon talking about his T50 here just soothes me to sleep
This was the most expensive ASMR clip I've ever seen
Manual: not interested, as far as I'm concerned it's a 1970s car.
It's great to see someone bucking the trend of bigger rims/lower profile tyres on this type of car. 😎
That is my dream car ❤️
he had to go back to school when koenigseggs and vw's bugatti got going.. this should be interesting but im skeptical after his last few cars that seemed more like a retiree hobbyist than true passion.
just let me drive it and ill tell you what i think about the physics of your uh diffuser..
Feast for the eyes.
have a front end impact in this car and the medical kit is deemed useless !
iT HAS THE fACE OF a MAMBA snake.. even the black mouth..
If a fast car cannot take Luggage and Passengers..... WHHYYY DON'T YOU HAVE A MOTORBIKE!!?!?!
The F1 never had that crackling static excitement that Hyper Mega Cars have.. it looks a bit.. prozaic.. even though it is bonkers.. It just seems ... regular.? Brilliant to own and use I would imagine....
It's beautiful.. but don't CRASH IT..!
I actually SAW a McClaren MEga Car parked on a driveway in Derbyshire 2 days ago.... Just casual as you like... Looked spanking new but I couldn't tell as it had a Private Plate....
Is it going to beat the chiron's top speed by 20+mph, like the F1 did againts the XJ220? Is it going to destroy everything handling wise like the F1? Is it going to be as powerful as the F1 like it was back in the day but for today standards? 1500HP+? No? This overpriced car is just another failed attempt to milk the F1 fame.

This car was made to be a better version of the F1. Beating speed records wasn't Gordon's goal- it was to create a powerful, beautiful driver's car that is practical and can be daily driven. Beating speed records has become much harder nowadays.
The mysterious japanese pharmacologically blind because salad intringuingly peel unto a roomy mosque. flashy, truculent susan
Even Gordon cannot create the F1 again. This frankly is not as good looking as F1 that we all love. The only thing cool would be that manual v12 at 12K rpm with a center ride that would make this special. Never the less great mind who knows what automotive experience should be.
one track fit for me please.

Lotus called they want their car back
speechless! I could listen to him all day, and the car! just a stunning piece of engineering.
Best looking car I have ever seen. Seriously. Wow!
If you need a test driver please be aware Im only available Thursday afternoons between 3 and 4
GM = genius. HM = superstar. But lose that belly!
Gordon knocks Audi's (and some other manufacturers) incessant use of stupid lights..... Couldn't agree more with him. This car is pure design, nothingnit doesn't need isn't added, F1 for 2020's. Can't wait to see these cars reviewed. This car is epic
I hope I have Gordon Murray’s energy and enthusiasm when I get to 75 . I certainly won’t have his talent.....
There’ll be a model for the ladies, called the E10...
I don't need to wait 10 years to tell you the "Fan" is Gay!
I'm a fan!
imagine driving this
Legend
OMG when was this? Gordon Murray was born 18 June 1946 . .he ain't looks that age
I wish Gordon Murray would create a Brabham sports car as well!
Exquisite engine.
Down to earth nice guy - well done Gordon Murray

Dear Mr Harry !! What An Outstanding Interview with Mr Murray !! Well Done.
So superior to the current mclaren cars they’re churning out
The F1 always has been gorgeous, but this... God damn that's a pretty car
so that's a mclaren f1.2 but 30 years out of its time...

What future for Cosworth when ALL cars have to be electric? All that brainpower and practical experience shelved?
The F1 will always be the 'Daddy'. It took VW over a decade to overcome the F1 as the 'fastest road car' with Bugatti...and that is simply testament to how damn good the F1 is and will always remain to be the 'Daddy'. #KingoftheRoad👑🇬🇧🇩🇪
What’s he going to tell us is bodged on this car in 20 years time
For some reason you hear Gordon talk about how amazing everything is and how much he knows and does, so you get the feeling that he's a little big headed, but when you really start thinking about him, you just realize that he in fact is the real deal, he actually knows everything so well, he's one of those guys who really get the credit they deserve and more importantly, deserve the credit they get! I've been following Gordon for quite a while now, not really because of this car, but rather because what he did at Brabham and because he's still one of the most important F1 designers ever. Actually I have no interest in supercars or sports cars beside the F40, I'm more of a fan of older F1 cars and their development, but this T50 is different, because it has what most new cars don't have, a soul! You can really feel that Gordon didn't design it with the intention to sell it, he made it because he wanted to! His attention to detail is insane and as an mechanical engineer, Gordon really is a role model for me. Great car, great designer and great video!
Wow.
Gordon Murray is a modern-day automotive genius.
This is truly a work of art
Sooooo basically its the perfect supercar

Facts
Absolutely stunning and beautiful. A true masterwork and counter absolute, to Bugatti's bulbous vulgarity and the crass culture of the straight-line speed fetishists, who are ruining the art of car design and development! Another Gordon Murray masterpiece.
Active aero was first used by the VW Corrado, Mr. Murray.
The world is a better place with people like Gordon Murray.
GORDON: we've got more cabin space, more luggage space and bigger seats. ...*10seconds later" GORDON: There is no rubbish on this car, everything does something 22" wheels are marketing and styling.
Too much talking, not enough showing. Was that a one seater? Didn’t see enough of the inside to confirm...

You can look that up m8. Obviously it's a three seater
The only downsides i can see is the indicators on the steering wheel being in the wrong spot when your coming out of a roundabout, and that i'll never get the chance to drive one.
What an amazing automobile. Such refinement and attention to detail but they fcked up and accidentally put the gear stick on the the wrong side without realising because they were focusing on the fine detail. Never mind. Maybe they'll get it right on the next car they design.
The interior is for when you drive your wife and her boyfriend around.
They need a new logo. Their current one looks horribly amateur clip art.
THANK YOU Mr Murray, for continuing to create perfect cars. I'll never own one. I may never even see one, but just to know that such a thing continues to exist in these times of depressing automotive evolution gives me hope.
Gordon Murrey did not "design engines" he only designed internal combustion engines on petrol (US: gas). That is ONE type of engine out of 400 different types of engines that exist. He is an expert in ICE while EV is steam-rolling ahead. This T50 is a jewel for collectors, like the expensive million dollar mechanical watches still made in Switzerland that are beautiful relics of the past and are meant solely to show off. See e.g. Jaeger Lecoultre Hybris Mechanica Grande Sonnerie ($2,5 mln) or the Blancpain Pain Le Brassus Tourbillon Carrousel (almost $4 million).

I wouldn't necessarily say mechanical watches are relics of the past
LoL.. 650 hp..?? That's Audi R8 V10. An engine with 50000 miles life..?? Is that a German joke..??😂 Mercedes F1 kicks it's ass anywhere anytime, not talk about Bugatti, you can't come even close to it..

when do we get to see this driven? Its been 6 months+ with everyone saying "its the most awesome car ever" without actual footage.
"The glass panel is a no cost option...I would hate to force 4.5 kilos on anybody." Porsch and Ferrari really need to pay attention
On the "Fan" - Jim Hall of Chaparral, says Your Welcome. Ironic, for it was McLaren, that had Hall's "sucker car" Banned from the never to be duplicated 'Can Am' racing series ... Life is weird.
Such a good car for the Stig to test :(
"That's the other reason I didn't buy an F1" 😂
6:53 "... relieving the high pressure in the wheel arch"; who knew?! This man has been the god of apex automotive engineering longer than most engineers (of *any* description) have actually been alive! Does he look like your typical 74 year old? No because he's probably designed something to delay the ageing process!
It's a shame there will be so few of these made. I hope Harry gets one.
Probably gonna get stoned for my comment, but I think T.50 is more functional than aesthetically pleasing, that's a nice way of saying car's not a looker. I don't know something about its proportions doesn't fit the typical supercar recipe when it comes to its aesthetics in certain angles. But then again choosing a supercar is all about priorities, personally you wouldn't see me driving something that I'm not a fan of its shape (provided I had the bank account to back it up) no matter how fast it goes on a straight line/corners without saying I don't understand people that want to be the fastest out there, looks might not be as high of a priority as performance.
